A former Lismore mayor’s businesses and a Tweed-based company embroiled in a superannuation scam are among the Northern NSW businesses that have been under administration or wound up in recent years.

SA SERVICES & PW PTY LTD

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission took action to wind up SA Services & PW Pty Ltd along with another company after an investigation into superannuation scams.

SA Services & PW had listed its principal place of business as a unit in a complex overlooking a golf course on Soorley Street, Tweed Heads South.

Craig Davis is listed as the director and secretary of the company, which was first registered in May 2020.

According to company records, Brisbane-based liquidator Michael Hill was appointed in late March, 2021.

A court order to wind up a company and appoint a liquidator came next.

In a statement issued last year, the commission said it had successfully applied to the Federal Court to wind up SA Services & PW as well as another company, Orphans Asia Pty Ltd.

The companies came to the commission’s attention during an investigation into other businesses.

“ASIC’s application was based on concerns that SA Services and Orphans Asia allegedly obtained approximately $2.4 million in Australian investor funds through cold-calling Australian consumers and operating the now defunct website smsfadvisory.com,” the statement said.

“Neither SA Services nor Orphans Asia are licensed or authorised to deal in financial products or provide financial services.

“At ASIC’s request, the companies passed special resolutions resolving that their respective companies be wound up by the court.”
