Aldi Goonellabah will close Thursday, June 24 as shoppers get ready to greet a new grocery experience and significant upgrades.

According to a Aldi spokeswoman, the store will come back in just over three weeks with a “fresh new look, including better product displays, improved navigation and modern styling.”

It is estimated the move will cost the company approximately $1.39 million.

She said many of the new inclusions were inspired by extensive store trials and ALDI’s statewide rollout of its modern store design.

“While we’re delighted to be introducing these innovations, we want our customers to know they won’t lead to higher prices,” an ALDI Australia spokeswoman said.

“Low prices are a big deal for ALDI. In fact, we refuse to be beaten on price. This is our fundamental point of difference and one we will never give away.”

She said new features included redesigned shelving, expanded wooden produce bays, as well as extended energy efficient chillers,

An emphasis would also be placed on energy efficient LED lighting, improved point-of-sale displays and store signage.

“At ALDI, we are proud to call ourselves ‘Good Different’. We offer a supermarket experience that is like no other in Australia, and it’s our differences that allow us to bring unbeatable value to our customers every day,” an ALDI spokesperson said.

“We’re excited to be undertaking these upgrades and welcome the community to visit our new store from Saturday 17th July and share their feedback about the store experience.”

Hurry in, as the store closes at 5pm on June 24 and reopens Saturday July 17.

Aldi Goonellabah will continue to be supported by a team of 15-20 permanent full and part-time employees.
While the store is closed, shoppers can continue to use Aldi Lismore, 44 Ballina Rd.
