A man believed to be aged in his 60s has tragically lost his life in a crash on the Bruxner Highway on the weekend.

A man believed to be aged in his 60s has tragically lost his life in a two-vehicle crash on the Bruxner Highway on Saturday.

Emergency services were called to the Bruxner Highway at Ballina at about 2.30pm, following reports a Toyota van and a ute had crashed.

The driver and sole occupant of the ute – a man believed to be in his 60s – died at the scene.

The driver of the van – a man believed to be in his 40s – was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious injuries.

Another man, who was the passenger of the van, was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with minor injuries.

Officers attached to Richmond Police District established a crime scene and opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

The crash comes just a month after a 21-year-old lost his life on the Bruxner Highway at Alstonville.

Days later, another man crashed on the same highway where it is believed he went into cardiac arrest.
