Bruxner Hwy crash: Truck crash at Alstonville

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a Bruxner Highway crash where eyewitnesses performed CPR on a man.

Police are investigating the scene of a serious Alstonville crash.

According to NSW Police Media,shortly before 12.40pm on Tuesday, a medium rigid flatbed truck was travelling west along the Bruxner Highway, near the intersection of Ballina Rd at Perrys Hill, when the vehicle crossed to the wrong side of the road and down an embankment.

NSW Police Media said a passing motorist and his passengers stopped to render assistance to the 58-year-old male driver.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said it is believed the man suffered a cardiac arrest and was rushed to Lismore Base Hospital in a critical condition.

The group commenced CPR and also utilised a nearby defibrillator to assist the man prior to the arrival of NSW Ambulance paramedics.

Officers from Richmond Police District have commenced inquiries into the incident.
