Grafton stabbing: Man in hospital after Pound Street incident

A 33-year-old man is in a serious condition in Grafton Hospital days after being stabbed as police try to figure out where the man was when he was injured.

A man who was stabbed in the early hours of Friday is in a serious condition in hospital as police piece together the lead up to his injuries.

Emergency services were called to Pound Street in Grafton about 1.30am after receiving reports a man had been stabbed.

Officers could not find the man when they arrived but later found him at Grafton Base Hospital, where he was on Sunday listed as being in a serious but stable condition.

The injured man had stab wounds to his torso.

Police established a crime scene at the Pound Street scene on Friday.

“While he was located (by members of the public) injured in Pound Street, the incident may have occurred elsewhere which is what police are trying to establish,” a police spokesman said.

They are investigating the circumstances leading up to the attack.

No one has been charged.
