10-month-old flown to hospital in weekend chopper flights

It has been another busy period for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter after it was called to Grafton yesterday afternoon.
The chopper was called by New South Wales Ambulance around midday on Monday for an urgent medical transfer from Grafton Hospital to the John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle.
The Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team stabilised a 44-year-old female patient suffering from a serious medical condition.
She was taken direct to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition for further medical specialist treatment.
It follows a medical retrieval from Lismore to Gold Coast Hospital on Sunday for a 79-year-old male, and a 10-month-old baby flown to John Hunter Children’s hospital last Thursday.
The helicopter has also been called for a motorbike accident at Nimbin on Sunday. The helicopter team winched a paramedic and a doctor to the man who had suffered serious chest and back injuries on the trail.
On the same night, the chopper was called to a tragic incident on the Big River Way where a man was hit by chicken that had come loose from another vehicle. Tragically, the man has since died from his injuries.
Finally, on Sunday the helicopter was used to rescue a man who had run out of supplies and was reported missing in the Newton Boyd area. the helicopter found the man and flown him back to safety.
