A second teenager charged after a man was found unconscious on a footpath near a Coffs Harbour hotel has appeared in court.
Leon Paulger-Jarrett, 19, sat quietly in Coffs Harbour Local Court as the matter was mentioned briefly on July 27.
He is charged with affray, and no plea was entered.
Paulger-Jarrett’s lawyer said he was seeking from the police closed circuit television footage of the night in question.
Magistrate Brett Shields continued bail without variation and adjourned the matter to August 10, when Paulger-Jarrett is excused from attending providing that his legal representation is present.
The conditions of Paulger-Jarrett’s bail include that he must not enter the Coffs Harbour Hotel, and that he is not to be with or contact any Crown witnesses.
Emergency services were called to a licensed premise on the Pacific Highway at about 2.30am on Sunday, July 3, following reports a man had been assaulted.
Officers from Coffs/Clarence Police District found a 28-year-old unconscious man on a nearby pavement.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Coffs Harbour Base Hospital, and then flown to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney.
The man sustained a suspected skull fracture and was listed in a critical condition.
A crime scene was established.
Just over an hour later officers were patrolling Shephards Lane when they stopped and arrested an 18-year-old man.
Clancy Webber is charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and remains before the courts. He has entered a not guilty plea and is on bail.
Paulger-Jarrett was arrested at a Bonville address at about 12.10pm on Sunday, July 3, and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with affray.
