The former long term partner of Tristan English, one of the young men killed in the Fairy Hill Droneys Bridge single vehicle crash just over a week ago, has described the pain, the love and laughter of the man she calls her “soulmate and best friend”.
Mr English’s tragic and unexpected death has rocked his former partner of seven years, Anniqua Jayne Baker-Alvos.
“I can’t breathe any time someone brings his name up” the 20-year-old Kyogle resident said.
“This wasn’t supposed to happen.”
Ms Baker-Alvos said Mr English displayed the qualities of a “gentleman” such as always opening doors for her, making sure she had eaten and was warm.
“You bought me a white teddy so I could snuggle very night into it if I wasn’t snuggling with you,” she said.
There are things the young woman will forever miss about her former partner, who she split from in March.
“Your company, your laugh, your jokes and your smartass nicknames for me,” she said.
“I will forever miss the way you would treat me like a queen and spoil me with your love.”
Despite their relationship being on and off over the seven years together, Ms Baker-Alvos is still grieving the loss of their shared dreams.
“We both had our dreams for the future and I will hold onto that dream and make it still happen for us all,’ she said.
Mr English was one of two young men who died in the double fatality on March 27 after the vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a river at Fairy Hill.
The two men tragically both lost their lives while one woman escaped.
