Coffs Harbour breaks the bounds with 2D cafe at Yarrila Place
Coffs Harbour’s $80m-plus civic centre - open for the first time for public inspection this weekend - will feature a keyed-up 2D cafe where the only things to stand out are the food and the punters. See what’s planned.

The hour is nigh for the official opening of Coffs Harbour’s Yarrila Place, and the first bling factor to be revealed is a 2D cafe.
The interior fit-out is described as monochrome - black and white - so the spotlight is solely on the colours of people getting their coffee fix and the food.
The finished look is edgy, as is the grand soft green building with its flowing lines which has drawn acclaim from many and scorn from some.
Yarrila Place will include a library, gallery, museum and council services and the community is invited to take a tour of the big build on Gordon St on Saturday.
Onsite will be the 2D Coffee House, which has been handpainted (walls, tables and chairs) by local tattoo artist Mila Nascimentto.
Brazilian-born, Ms Nascimentto operates the Aquarius Arcade in Coffs.
The cafe, like the building, will be a talking point.
2D cafes are ‘a thing’ in Asia, and an Instagrammer’s dream.
“The 2D cafe will be an amazing and welcoming space – whether that’s as a meeting place for friends prior to a visit to Yarrila Arts and Museum, or as a convenient lunch spot for families after an outing to the new Harry Bailey Memorial Library,” Coffs mayor Paul Amos said.
“It’s been wonderful to partner with some amazing local talent to get this unique cafe up and running. I’m sure it will make an impression when we open it up on Saturday.”
