A new $5.9 million tavern has been flagged for the growing North Coast coastal community of Lennox Head.

If approved, the venue will be located in the Epiq precinct on a 2971 square metre site just west of Hutley Dr, at 6 and 26 Salt Air Circuit.

The pub would be a single-storey structure with a bistro, dining area, children’s room, sports bar and alfresco bar.

It’s also set to feature terrace areas and landscaped courtyards.

The site is part of what is referred to as “Epiq Lennox” within the lucrative Epiq Estate in Lennox Head, where blocks of land have been quickly snapped up.

The development was known as the Pacific Pines Estate when it was approved in 2008 before it was rebranded to Epiq.

Most recently, a $2.5 million addition to the “Epiq Marketplace” was proposed, with new shops and a cafe on the cards.

Ballina Shire Council approval has also been granted for a childcare centre, community hall, retirement community and medium density housing.

The tavern would be part of the larger Epiq community.

Town planner Damian Chapelle said the tavern would be an important part of the community’s social fabric and would “provide residents a social communal meeting place”.

If approved, the tavern is set to operate from 10am to midnight, seven days a week.

Have your say about the project on the Ballina Shire Council website.
