Ladies and gentlemen, she's done it again

In honour of Trinny London’s latest launch, the queen of style herself sat down with Body+Soul to share why these multitasking products could be her best work yet, and why it’s never too late to pay attention to your skin concerns.

There are few people on this earth who know how to dissect a look from head to toe better than Trinny Woodall.

After her rise to fame in the early 2000s as a beauty and fashion expert, Woodall founded her own cosmetics brand Trinny London in 2017. Praised for their active-potent skincare and formulations targeted to skincare concerns rather than types, Trinny London’s vibrant and science-backed products quickly became a hit around the globe.

Now, the brand has launched Trinity, an innovative dual-ended product pairing a creamy matte colour with a radiant glow highlighter. Dubbed the ultimate multitasking makeup solution, Trinity is designed to be worn anywhere on the face.

With a formula so versatile, Woodall herself can't help but gleam with pride, “I would say in terms of colour, I do think it's our best work yet,” says the beauty expert.

The new Trinity range is a culmination of Trinny London’s best makeup and skincare innovations, from their debut stacking range to their bestselling Just Joyous Lip products

“Just Joyus is to me a modern version of lipstick. And then from that, I thought, ‘Okay, how can I take highlighting and bronzing and blushing and eye shade and cheek and lip and put them all in one product?’ And that's what we did. So I'm so happy,” shares Woodall.

Available in three shades – New York, Venice and Mustique – each perfectly curated pairing features one sheer, dewy balm and one creamy matte formula.

“They all represent to me a different vibe – and by the way, I will be doing a Sydney because I've been asked that already,” hints Woodall.

Prior to launching Trinity, Woodall and the team at Trinny London were determined to bring to market a product that epitomised the brand ethos.

“I had this thing I did at Forbes magazine. I did a talk and I said, ‘Age is irrelevant, it's about the energy you bring.’ So, based on that principle, what we want to do is bring energy into women's lives,” recalls the entrepreneur.

“We happen to make phenomenally good skincare makeup products. We simplify routines, we think intelligently about solutions and we want to change the wording around beauty.”

Trinity, like every product to emerge from the innovative minds at Trinny London, is formulated to help women feel full of good energy, “I want products that don't smother them, but make them feel they're just vibrating an eternal glow,” she says.

Trinny’s inspiration for each shade

Each curated shade pairing – New York, Venice and Mustique – is inspired by destinations that have shaped Trinny’s career and personal growth.

“The point of New York was that sort of 90s contoured Christie Turlington inspiration, but with a modern-day twist,” Woodall explains. “New York's where I first discovered skincare.”

New York, with its rose gold glow + matte brownstone combo, is Woodall’s go-to stick when she’s looking to create a more contoured look. “You know how people would sort of do that bronze look but it was quite matte?” asks Woodall. “I think bronze should always glow, and if I want to build up, I can just build up.”

While Venice’s golden pink and soft dusky rose tones are designed to create a soft glow on every skin tone, Mustique’s pop of bright colour is inspired by faraway escapes and soft pink skies.

“Mustique is for me that moment of holiday. I tend to really put it there when I want that little soft pinkiness,” says Woodall.

“There are lots of people in Trinity London who develop these, but the person who really put her life works into it is a lady called Maiko, she's half Japanese and half French, but she loves Mustique because she loves that petal-pink for her skin tone with that golden, and it's so beautiful on that sort of porcelain olive skin tone as well.”

It’s never too late to change your skin – but do your research

Catering to specific skin concerns, rather than age groups and skin types, Trinny London’s product range has been designed in conjunction with the idea that there is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to people’s unique skin goals.

“Everyone's skin is different,” Woodall says. “So don't think your skin is the same as your best friend's skin or is going to behave the same way. You've got to be aware that you're going to have different issues.”

One of the common misconceptions Woodall comes across when speaking to women in their 40s, 50s and 60s, is that there’s no point addressing skincare concerns so late in the game. And while consistency is important when establishing a long-term skincare routine, the beauty expert insists that starting late in the game is better than not at all.

“Women like that in their 50s, who picked up skincare in their 20s, didn't have the active ingredients that are in today,” she says. “So they probably had really good skin in their 20s, they toyed with stuff, they didn't really use it, and then they just thought, ‘That's what skincare is’.”

“They now wake up age 50 or 60, and they think, ‘Well, it won't change it, so I'm fucked’,” continues Woodall. “It's never, ever, too late to change your skin. I do believe that so strongly.”
