If there’s one thing Trinny Woodall knows, it’s the art of putting your best foot forward.

She started off as a stylist and makeover expert, writing a weekly style guide for The Daily Telegraph UK called Ready to Wear with frequent collaborator Susannah Constantine, before co-hosting the BBC fan-favourite show What Not to Wear and its iterations, from 2001 to 2013.

In 2017, she launched her own beauty brand, Trinny London, and it’s safe to say the rest is history. Known for their stack-it approach to makeup, and active-potent skincare, the brand quickly took over the UK – helping people rethink their routines, and winning countless awards along the way.

And it’s easy to see why; the brand’s formulations are ‘grown up’ and considered, targeted to skincare concerns rather than out-of-date skin types. Make-up is made to suit skin tones across the spectrums, and the lip2cheek range can be used, as the name suggests, across all parts of your face.

Thus, you’d be right in assuming the CEO and founder's own routine is a force to be reckoned with – so obviously we asked her to divulge. From supplements to skincare and everything in between, Trinny spills all her wellness secrets for Body+Soul

Outline your morning ritual for us

In the morning, I get up and I reach for my phone, but not to look at my emails. I like to use the Calm app for 10 minutes before I get out of bed and either do exercise with a trainer or I take my new puppy for a walk on the way to work.

In my morning shower, I use my Tiptoe In PHA exfoliant and my Bounce Back intense peptide moisturiser on my body (because I love them so much) followed by my skincare routine, which is as follows: cleanse, exfoliate, put vitamin C on, peptide moisturize, SPF.

Depending on how I feel, I will either have an idea of what I'm wearing, or I'll look at the weather and decide what I'm wearing based on what I'm doing that day to work out my outfit. The only time I usually have an outfit prepped for the next day is if I'm doing a special event, and I've really had to think about what's appropriate to wear for that event.

Outline your night ritual for us

Depending if i am going out in the evening or not,  I will do my skincare routine when I get home from work. I don't do it before I go to bed as I just love to take the day away with a cleanse and feel I'm separating from being at work to relaxing and I'll put on my Derek Rose pyjamas straight away.

I'll watch TV with Lyla,  make dinner and then before I go to bed, I will do my supplements routine, which is probably why I do my skincare routine earlier because my supplements routine is quite long and involves about 10 pills.

Now when i get into bed, I listen to a different meditation, it's a really good app, Insightful. It’s a meditation that was tried clinically at the University of Massachusetts and proves that you will change your neural pathways if you do have 60 days in a row. So I'm on day 10.

Talk us through your supplement intake, do you take any collagen, green powders, wellness elixirs etc?

In the morning I will take NMN [Nicotinamide mononucleotide], which is a precursor to NAD [Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide], which i take to help with better skin and energy.

I will also take Vitamin C, liposomal 3000 milligrams, and a Magnolia Rhodiola, which is a really nice natural mood enhancer. I take something for my thyroid, Vitamin D in the winter and I take a progesterone pill along with oestrogen and testosterone.

In the evening I will do a colon pill, three magnesium citrate, hormonal balance supplements I get from my hormonal doctor, Vitamin A, D, and K and sometimes I take something called Sweet Dreams, which is a CBD oil to help you sleep.

What is your weeknight dinner philosophy? What does a normal meal look like?

If I'm at home, it's either pasta that my daughter will cook or it is something from Dalesford. I don't have that much sugar during the week and if I go out for dinner, I'll have whatever's on the menu, –  generally chicken or fish.

Do you practice mindfulness? If so, how?

In addition to the Calm app each morning, I do yoga twice a week in the evening, before I go to bed. I'm trying to be a bit more mindful.

What do you do to help your body recover after a hectic week?

I try to sleep eight hours on Saturday and Sunday nights.

What's your approach to more alternative forms of beauty and wellness practises?

I like sound baths because I like how they send a vibration through your body. Every time i have experienced a sound bath, I’ve felt really good after.

I also saged my house when I moved in because I believe it moves the negative energy and I do believe that there is negative energy out there and I can really sense it when people have it. I either get drawn to them because I feel they need help or want to run a mile. I just sense there's something where they want to bring other people down.

So I do have a belief in using alternative things to bring an equilibrium to life.
