Salim Mehajer’s sister Mary wins Miss Lebanon Australia beauty pageant

AMID the paparazzi glare and over-the-top nuptials, it’s easy to forget that Salim Mehajer is not the only high achiever in his family.

AMID the paparazzi glare and over-the-top nuptials, it’s easy to forget that controversial Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer is not the only high achiever in his family.

Mr Mehajer has taken to Facebook to congratulate his sister on winning the Miss Lebanon Australia 2016, complete with a photo of the smiling pair.

“Greatness is to stay humble when the world calls you great,” Mr Mehajer posted to Facebook this morning.

The post has already attracted more than 200 “likes”, complete with dozens of comments complementing Ms Mehajer on her win and beauty.

Ms Mehajer, who studies at the University of Technology Sydney, outclassed eight other contestants to claim the crown.

Mary Hakim was first runner up, while Jessica Nercessian came in third.

The charity contest was probably a welcome respite for the embattled councillor and property developer, who has recently been dogged by allegations of an altercation with his wife Aysha and speculation the pair had split.

He has rubbished those claims and even held a lavish rapper-filled birthday party for her last month.

However it’s unknown if his new bride attended the Miss Lebanon event.

Mr Mehajer and his family shot to prominence last year after their lavish wedding became the talk of Sydney for its traffic congestion causing procession, massive price tag and even a bizarre pre-wedding videotape.
