Shoppers are going wild after finding out about a little known “grape hack” that many have said “feels illegal” – but will save you at the checkout.

TikTok user Adrian Widjy shared a video online showing how you can buy just a small amount of grapes, instead of the entire bag that they are packaged in.

He said he even asked the staff members if this practice was allowed, and they confirmed it was.

The clip rapidly went viral with many customers astounded that they did not know about the trick before.

“Did you know this?” Adrian captioned the video.

“You are allowed to buy the amount you need instead of the whole allocated bag.

“I had to make sure and ask[ed] the staff members if I could do this, and they told me 100 per cent.”

“I feel like this is illegal! But I actually love this because who eats the entire bag?” one commenter wrote.

“Dude this is a game-changer for me when I make a charcuterie board,” said another. “I only want like five grapes.”

“OMG I did this the other day and I felt like a criminal. But they let me buy it,” wrote a third.

Another person said: “I told my husband this recently and he had no idea. He thought you had to take the whole bag.”

“Brilliant! How have I never thought of this?” someone else wrote.

Other shoppers couldn’t believe people didn’t know this was allowed, and said they have always done it.

“I feel sorry for the people who haven’t already been doing this,” said one. “I couldn’t imagine buying the whole bag!”

“I can’t believe people don’t know this. I’ve been doing it my whole life,” said another.

“I thought this was common knowledge,” a third person wrote. “I also do it with cherries.”

This isn’t the first time that customers have discovered a life-changing “hack” for their grocery shop.

Earlier this month, supermarket shoppers were shocked after finding out about the smart way one woman organised her bags and groceries at the checkout.

The woman placed bags between bunches of groceries to indicate what she wanted in each bag.

“Who else puts their shopping bags in between their groceries so the cashier knows what you want them to put into each bag?” the caption read.

People were stunned at the clip, which got 800 comments and 783,000 views in just 48 hours.

“Yes, because as a cashier myself it traumatises me when bags aren’t packed logically,” one person commented.

“I love this as a cashier. Makes my life so much easier,” another said.

“No that’s a good idea but I usually hand over my scrunched up baggies,” said a third person.

However shoppers from around the world – specifically in the UK and other European countries – were stunned Aussies do not pack their own bags at the till.
