Queensland shopper’s ‘genius’ Coles chicken hack

A Queensland woman has shared what has been described as a “genius” roasted chicken hack after stealing the idea from her sister.

It’s the simple things in life that are often the most satisfying and most effective.

And in this case, it’s a Coles barbecue roast chicken hack that has left people wondering why they never thought of the idea themselves.

In a TikTok video, a Queensland shopper explains how she learned a “brilliant” technique from her sister that’s a huge timesaver when it comes to serving the popular family favourite.

“There’s always that one person who brings a BBQ chook to the family get-together,” she begins.

“One time, my sister was preparing the food table and she randomly started doing this. And I was like ‘Aah, that is a brilliant idea’.”

The woman, who goes by the name of Helen on the social media platform, demonstrated

how to pull the cooked chook apart, while it was still in the bag.

She said the hack was “quick, easy, leaves no mess” and “saves a whole heap of time”.

“Use a tea towel or cloth if the chook is too hot,” she added.

It didn’t take long for users to bombard her post, describing her handy hack as “genius”.

“Whaaaaaaaaat?! I was today years old when I learned this,” one person commented.

“No way! I’m so trying this.”

A Perth influencer also took to TikTok to share how she saves on capsicums when shopping at Coles.

In the clip back in April, Ash Reid revealed how buying red, green and yellow capsicums cost almost half of what the prepacked version was selling for.

Claiming that “Coles doesn’t want you to do the math”, Ash explained how she had been able to save big simply by purchasing the capsicums loose.

“I have no doubt in my mind that this is very useless information,” she said.

“But if you go to Coles and want three capsicums, do not buy the three pack. That is $8.90 and if you buy them individually $4.50, you’re welcome.”

Coles’ three pack of capsicum costs $17.80 per kilo while loose red and yellow capsicum are $8.90 per kilo and green capsicums are $4.90 per kilo.

Her post got dozens of comments from people who equally thanked her for sharing the “very good tip” or questioned why most people didn’t know this “basic info”.
