EXCLUSIVE COVERAGE: Two Indonesian boys, Muhammad Afif Fahimi and Dyrga Mahayana A., both aged sixteen were on a field trip with the International Islamic Boarding School when they somehow became separated from their group and ended up in the water at Bondi Beach. The pair, who were probably not familiar with the currents and strong waves at Bondi, struggled in the water and had to be rescued by lifeguards. A huge amount of paramedics and police attended the scene, with the Jewish Hatzolah volunteer first responders first on the scene. The paramedics tended to the young boys, one of whom was unconscious and had to be rushed to hospital immediately, while the other who was in a more stable condition was cared for at the scene with a breathing mask and an oxygen tank before being loaded up into an ambulance and driven away. Police directed traffic and collected statements from witnesses, while the rest of the boys from the school, who were wearing military-style jackets and backpacks emblazoned with the school's insignia and had scattered along the beach, gathered into a large group to resume their field trip.
