POLICE have released extraordinary video footage showing how two suspicious fires started at the same Western Sydney fruit shop just six weeks apart.
Casula Fruitland went up in flames in April and June of 2014 in what police believe were linked incidents.
The video depicts a man cutting a hole in a security door around 4am on April 30, the time of the first blaze, and pouring what appears to be accelerant inside.
He then drips the substance along the pavement outside and the business is ablaze seconds later.
A second sequence of footage from the early-morning June 14 fire shows a white van reverse straight through the same security doors before a man appears to light the blaze and set off on foot.
The vehicle, which police say had been stolen, is then driven from the premises billowing smoke.
Liverpool Police are looking for the man who ran from the second blaze, wearing a white hooded jumper, blue jeans, a black bumbag and white running shoes.
The case has baffled Liverpool detectives and the community for two years, with police adding they have not found any reason to suspect the owners of the business are behind the attacks.
“We believe what they are telling us,” Liverpool crime manager Detective Inspector Dean Johnstone said.
“In terms of a motive, it could be anything.
“Until we find that person we know for sure. We really do want the community’s assistance to find that person.”
The stolen vehicle was later found, burnt out at the scene.
