A developer has successfully applied to increase the number of rooms in aÂ boarding house â despite hundreds of resident objections â located in a prominent and popular dining precinct in Sydneyâs south.Developer, Rye 10, took Bayside Council to the Land and Environment Court after it refused the application to modify the development.In 2018, the Land and Environment Court granted approval to construct a nine-storey boarding house with a retail tenancy and two levels of basement, costing more than $10m, at 295-301 Bay St, Brighton-Le-Sands.Last year the developer sought to increase the number of boarding rooms from 79 to 84 to accommodate 166 people, add another level of basement, redesign the foyer, increase the retail space, relocate accessible rooms and change the external facade on Bay St.

A father will spend Christmas behind bars after he unsuccessfully applied to have his charges of being five times over the alcohol limit during a police pursuit dealt with under mental health grounds.
