The next 12 months will be a ‘powermerger’ year of new music and wine for Australian pop princess Kylie Minogue.

After moving back to Melbourne earlier this year, the ARIA award-winning artist said she was enjoying the creative overlap of her two loves.

“I’m currently finishing my album, (I’m) in the last stages, so at the moment my mind’s on wine or music,” she said.

Minogue was in the Yarra Valley on Monday to celebrate her new Wines by Kylie Minogue chardonnay and pinot noir, released through De Bortoli Wines.

The wines are the first Victorian releases under her label.

“Once we had launched the rose which was a success, the next conversation was we needed an Australian wine. I need to be travelling the world with some Australian representation,” she said.

A Yarra Valley chardonnay and pinot noir will be released next year, produced by De Bortoli Yarra Valley winemaker Steve Webber and Leanne De Bortoli.

“I would love the opportunity to come out (to the Yarra Valley) more. I’m an hour or so from where I grew up. I love that (this wine is) in Victoria, I’m really proud of that.”

The pop superstar, who has already had a big 2022 reprising her role as Charlene Robinson for the Neighbours finale and making Melbourne her new base after buying a $8m home in February, said 2023 was going to be even busier.

“Next year is going to be a full year and we’re going to have pinot and chardonnay out ... the (Kylie Minogue Wines) side of things is progressing, it’s exciting, very challenging, every step is a learning curve for me but it’s rewarding and exciting,” she said.

As for what’ll be on the table for Kylie’s Christmas?

“Pinot noir and chardonnay ... that’s my dad and my mum,” she said.

“That’s the two lanes, they’re taken care of. I’ll probably start with the rose and see where it takes me.”

Minogue said while she wasn’t ‘stomping grapes’, she was enjoying the winemaking process.

“I’m in it for the long haul. I’m invested in it,” she said.

“I’m not stomping the grapes. I just think it’s about having the team and right understanding … it’s about tasting for me.”

Wines by Kylie Minogue launched in mid 2020 with a rose, growing to a collection of drops which include a prosecco rose and zero alcohol number.
