He’s been involved in the Australian television and film industry for almost two decades and has even been nominated for a Logie, but comedian Rob Shehadie is still not worthy of an invite to the AACTAs.
And this week the former Fat Pizza star called out the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts asking what it takes to be recognised by the peak screen body.

“Nineteen years on TV, created two TV shows on Channel 9 and Channel 10 and I’ve never been invited to this AACTA’s event,” Shehadie told Sunday Confidential.
“You just see the same heads at these things. They always just go with the usuals — Dave Hughes and etc.
“It could just be an honest mistake, that they just invite the same people because that’s all they know, but they say the AACTA Awards recognise people in film and television.”
Shehadie believes the industry has pigeon holed himself and fellow Lebanese actors aren’t often acknowledged.
“It is like they don’t take the Fat Pizza boys seriously,” he said.
“We have moved on from the Fat Pizza days. Sometimes I think … is ethnic comedy not taken seriously? Hang on, we are ethnics in Australia.”
It comes as a surprise Shehadie has never secured an invite to the event considering the likes of Instagram model ‘Claudia Klein WBFF Bikini’ got a look in.
“I am not an A lister or a household name, I understand that,” he said.
“But I look at some of the heads that are there and am thinking, I was happy to be home on the couch, but hold on. What does it take to be recognised for the AACTA’s because we don’t get recognised for what we do and what we have done.”
