SEASON one was a runaway success and now Top Of The Lake: China Girl star Elisabeth Moss has revealed the sequel is “unlike anything else out there”.
Actor of the moment Moss — who also stars in the latest must-watch TV show The Handmaid’s Tale — warned audiences who are eagerly awaiting the second Lake instalment that “everything is ratcheted up to 100”.
“It’s kind of dark and creepy, but also grossly hilarious too,” she said.
Moss returns as Detective Robin Griffith in the gritty crime drama, which will air on Foxtel’s BBC First from August 20.
This season was shot in Sydney and also stars Nicole Kidman and Game Of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie.
Writer and director Jane Campion said the seeds of this second series — set four years after the first — were sown in New Zealand after production wrapped on the initial series and Moss suggested her character return to Sydney.
It was announced yesterday that Hollywood heavyweight Kidman would head home to Sydney for advance screenings of Top Of The Lake: China Girl — which has already received critical acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival — at the Opera House next week.
