Elisabeth Moss and Gwendoline Christie hit the Bondi sand for Top Of The Lake sequel

THE star cast of Top Of The Lake brought pedestrian traffic around Bondi Beach to a standstill yesterday as Hollywood stars Elisabeth Moss and Gwendoline Christie began shooting the second season.

THE star cast of Top Of The Lake brought pedestrian traffic around Bondi Beach to a standstill yesterday as Hollywood stars Elisabeth Moss and Gwendoline Christie began shooting the second season of Jane Campion’s acclaimed drama series.

Mad Men actor Moss reprises her role as Detective Robin Griffin in the New Zealand drama for which she collected a Golden Globe last year.

The diminutive Moss was joined on the famous Bondi sands by towering British actor Christie, best known for her role as the faithful warrior Brienne of Tarth in Game Of Thrones.

At 1.91m tall, Christie proved unmissable yesterday as she ran down the beach followed closely by a film crew.

All eyes are on the production, with Nicole Kidman rumoured to be joining the cast and currently still in Australia for her Easter break.

The second season of the drama, entitled China Girl, takes up four years after the first season finale when the unidentified body of an Asian girl washes up on Bondi Beach.

The case is considered hopeless until Detective Moss discovers the girl didn’t die alone.

Star-spotting in the sun on crowded Bondi Beach has kicked into overdrive with locals and autograph hunters on the look out for other international stars attached to the project.

They include David Dencik from The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and Australian actors Ewen Leslie from The Daughter and Alice Englert, director Campion’s daughter from Beautiful Creatures.

“I’ve read three scripts so far and I’m incredibly excited where Jane is taking the story and the character,” Christie told media. Moss only has raves for Christie, who she recently described as being “brilliant and badass”.

“I don’t think anyone’s gonna mess with us,” she said during rehearsals in Sydney a week ago.
