Bachelor winner Laura Byrne is shocked at how well her relationship with Matty J Johnson has gone after the cameras stopped rolling.

Byrne was revealed as the final girl standing on the most recent season of the Channel 10 reality show.

Speaking to Confidential yesterday, the Sydney jewellery designer opened up about her concerns on how her life after the show would work.

“I wasn’t sure if we would have a normal life,” Byrne said. “I was worried if things would be too public or too crazy. But it has been wonderful.”

Byrne said the couple were yet to have their first fight.

“He doesn’t fight … and I hate fighting too.”

While she was trailed by paparazzi for the weeks leading up to the finale, Byrne said things had settled since the final result was revealed.

“Surprisingly, it is so normal, which has been great, because for a while there I questioned what things would be like,” she said.

The new couple have been at the top of every guest list for all the big events since the show, but Byrne said they were trying to keep a low profile.

“We have been invited to a lot, but we don’t want to be at the opening of an envelope,” Byrne said.

“We want to go to thing which we feel aligned (to) and inspired by.”

The couple will, however, hit the social scene for the Spring Carnival.

“I love the fashion side of the races, but I am not a big gambler,” Byrne said.

“Going to the races is a time (when) women can be unique and show off their own sense of style.”

Although they will hit most of the big race days together, Byrne will attend the Melbourne Cup solo as her boyfriend will be overseas.

Byrne admitted she was addicted to the new season of The Bachelorette featuring Sophie Monk.

“I love it, Sophie is a different type of Bachelorette, she is so authentic,” Byrne said.
