MODEL of the moment Jordan Barrett’s bad-boy antics are becoming boring and those close to him in his early days are concerned about his outrageous behaviour.
Kirk Blake, who discovered the 13-year-old Barrett in a grocery store, said the model did not deserve the attention he had garnered in recent years.
“Why are we celebrating someone who gives the media the finger?” Blake said.
“In one case where he was interviewed at GQ — I asked why he was even there — the kid was interviewed on live TV and he swore. I went ‘yuck’.

“He needs to rein it in. I just know that he can be so much better. He is unstoppable at the moment but I still think he has to make the correct decisions.”
Barrett, now 21, was poached from Blake by IMG when his career started to boom.
Blake is one of a few people who have seen where Barrett grew up or met his family, including his convicted drug-dealer dad Adrian Barrett.
“I was grocery shopping on the Gold Coast, walking down an aisle, and there was an automatic impact when I saw him (Jordan),” Blake said.
“The mother did call me and I spoke to her and I went by their apartment. The father when I met him was a very pleasant man — I had no clue about what he was involved in. His father actually came along to his first shoot.”
The veteran model scout said he wished more attention was given to the many young models who set a good example.
“Why don’t we celebrate the kids who are great for brands?” he said.
