TOP model Jordan Barrettcounts Kate Moss and the Hadid sisters as friends, but the best modelling advice came from his convicted drug dealing father.
“(He said) always to be polite and always to keep my head on my shoulders and keep grounded,” the 21-year-old Gold Coast model said of his father Adrian Barrett, a convicted Gold Coast cannabis kingpin who was jailed for his involvement in a $12 million drug ring.
Barrett, who was front row at New York Fashion Week yesterday, said his parents don’t always approve of his flashy lifestyle, which is often captured unfavourably by paparazzi — the model flipping off photographers eager to follow his movements with top models including Bella Hadid and Paris Hilton.
On whether he gets disapproving phone calls from home, he laughed “Quite often. But it’s to show anyone that sees those photos how annoying and how invasive they are,” he added.

“It doesn’t make it look like you’re having fun and they’ve just taken your photo; really they’re ruining your day. They come there and get in your face.
“So that’s me explaining to people that no one actually wants that photo to be taken.”
Barrett has risen from a 13-year-old scouted at a Gold Coast grocery store to the hottest male model in the world, fronting clothing and fragrance campaigns, notching up Vogue covers and preparing to launch a collaboration in New York this year — while taking a run at acting.
