Wedding bells are in the air, with high-profile sports presenter Ryan Phelan proposing to his girlfriend over the weekend.

Confidential can reveal the high profile sports presenter popped the question to girlfriend Sarah Wade over the weekend.

He proposed at Sorrento in Victoria in front of close family and friends, presenting Wade with a diamond sparkler from Matthew Ely in Woollahra.

The pair have kept their romance low key for the nearly two years they have been together.

In October, the loved-up couple were snapped together at The Everest at Royal Randwick Racecourse.

At the time, Wade explained that they had met more than 15 years ago at a Commonwealth Games after party and “reconnected here at Randwick five years ago”.

“We both work in the sports industry so it works,” she said.

Wade works in sports marketing, previously in racing and the NRL and currently with the A-League football.

Former Channel 7 presenter Phelan is project managing for Harness Racing Victoria.

The 47-year-old has two adult children from his previous marriage and had a high profile split from ex-girlfriend, Chelsea Franklin.

Of his relationship with Wade, Phelan said in October: “We have long been friends and we have a lot of mutual friends.”

“Obviously we have known each other really well and for me moving forward, it was important to be with someone I know and trust. Sarah has just been an incredible support to me and we are both really very happy. We both just really love sport.”

Phelan is well known for his work on television and radio, having appeared across shows including The Daily Edition, The Morning Show, Seven News and Ten’s Sports Tonight.

He was famously the Cleo Bachelor of the Year in 2005.
