A MUTUAL love of sport brought together TV host Ryan Phelan with girlfriend Sarah Wade.
Having kept their romance low key for the past 18 months, the couple were snapped together at The Everest at Royal Randwick Racecourse on Saturday.
“We first met at a Melbourne Commonwealth Games after-party 15 or 16 years ago and reconnected here at Randwick five years ago,” Wade told Confidential at Randwick.
“We both work in the sports industry so it works.”
Wade works in sports marketing, previously in racing and the NRL and currently with the A-League football.
Former Channel 7 presenter Phelan meanwhile is project managing for Harness Racing Victoria.
Phelan, 47, has two adult children from his previous marriage and had a high profile split from ex girlfriend, Chelsea Franklin.
Of his new relationship, Phelan said: “We have long been friends and we have a lot of mutual friends. Obviously we have known each other really well and for me moving forward, it was important to be with someone I know and trust. Sarah has just been an incredible support to me and we are both really very happy. We both just really love sport.”
Phelan is well known on Australian television media, having worked across shows including The Daily Edition, Seven News, The Morning Show and Ten’s Sports Tonight.
He was famously the Cleo Bachelor of the Year in 2005.
