Miracle burns survivor Sophie Delezio is pregnant with her first child.
Delezio chose her 23rd birthday to share the exciting news on social media.
“The greatest gift of all coming in September!,” Delezio wrote on the post with four accompanying images.
Her fiance partner Joseph Salerno appears in the images with the couple sharing an ultrasound shot too.
The couple met in Year 9 at Oxford Falls Grammar school and went to each other’s school formals together. They announced their engagement in May last year.
Delezio captured Australia’s hearts as a two-year-old when she was severely injured after becoming trapped under a burning car that had crashed through the window of her Sydney childcare centre in 2003.
She miraculously survived but suffered burns to 85 per cent of her body and lost both her feet, some fingers and her right ear.
In 2006, tragically, Delezio was hit by a car near her home in Sydney’s northern beaches as her nanny pushed her wheelchair across a pedestrian crossing.
The impact sent her flying 18 metres out of her chair.
The 23-year-old broke the internet in February when she shared her life story in a video posted to TikTok and Instagram.
‘This is my story! I’m excited to keep sharing glimpses of my life with you, and continue to challenge perceptions surrounding the word ‘disability’,’ she captioned the video, which gained more than 4 million views in 24 hours.
