The rising star of Australian film looks to have a Hollywood hit on her resume with the release of horror flick, Late Night with the Devil.

“I had the time of my life,” Torelli told The Daily Telegraph.

“It is pretty heavy. I think it is a lot of fun to watch. It is a late night show presented in the 70s and I am basically the survivor of a satanic cult.”

The film is already out in the US and hits cinemas here April 11. Oppenheimer star David Dastmalchian leads the cast that also includes Laura Gordon, Fayssal Bazzi, Georgina Haig and Ian Bliss.

Late Night With The Devil has a critic score of 96 per cent on industry review site Rotten Tomatoes and legendary author Stephen King has described it as “absolutely brilliant” on social media.

“I couldn’t take my eyes off it,” he wrote on X. “I urge you to watch it when you can.”

They are strong words from King while British critic Wendy Ide referred to Torelli as “impressively disquieting”.

Empire Magazine critic Helen O’Hara wrote: “Ingrid Torelli also does remarkable work as the allegedly possessed teenager brought onto the show, maintaining eye contact with the camera far longer than is comfortable.”

For Torelli, the experience itself plus the response, is a little overwhelming. She has been working in the industry since the age of nine, when she scored the titular role in Matilda the Musical. Her TV credits include The End and she appeared recently in Robert Connolly’s Force Of Nature.

“I am really excited to be honest,” she said. “Working on Late Night has been something so different, something I have never done before.”

Of her character, Lily D’Abo, she said: “I didn’t try to focus on making her scary. She has obviously been through a lot of stuff and survived a lot of trauma. I thought about that when I was playing the role rather than trying to make her scary.”

Torilli is of Italian background and is bilingual.

“A big dream would be being able to work in Italy, that would be so amazing.”
