Resilient pop superstar Rita Ora says she is horrified by the amount of young people who contact her with personal stories of bullying.

“I have a lot of young fans and girls that are really insecure or feel like they are not pretty enough,” Ora told The Daily Telegraph.

“I get all of these comments all the time on Instagram and it genuinely affects me.”

The 28-year-old, in town to perform at the ARIA Awards this week, has some helpful words of advice to help young men and women get through tough times.

“I can only imagine what teenagers go through at school with bullying online,” she said. “It is a real thing. My first bit of advice would be really don’t feel defeated by the bullies because they could stop you from achieving your dreams. If I was their age and I had social media, I would probably lose my mind. Just keep your faith and self belief regardless of anything that is thrown at you.”

Brit singer Ora, who is also an actor, is one of the biggest pop stars in the world right now with countless hits to her name including Anywhere, RIP, How Do We Party and Your Song.

But she’s had her own share of struggles, not least of which was the fact it took her six years to bring out her new album — Phoenix — due to issues with her former management and label.

“I don’t think people realise how much I went through to be able to put this record out but I don’t want this to be a sob story,” she said. “I want it to be encouraging and inspiring and that is why I’ve called it Phoenix because it is like I have risen and it is a new life. I am just really grateful that people had patience because it is a long time between 2012 and now.”

She continued: “To achieve something you are really proud of, you have got to fight tooth and nail for it. What is the point otherwise. Not a lot of people get to do their dream job.”

Ora will perform her new single — Let You Love Me — at the ARIA Awards that will be held at The Star Event Centre Wednesday night.

She will return to Australia next year for a run of shows nationally, including a stop in Sydney to play the Big Top at Luna Park on March 2.
