Married At First Sight Melissa Lucarelli admits 10-year dry spell

Melissa Lucarelli has likened herself to a professional athlete not practising their sport in the sex stakes.

The Married At First Sight contestant hasn’t had sex since 2009 and is asking herself why.

“I was very good at it, I am not going to lie,” Lucarelli told Confidential.

“And so this is the thing, it is actually upsetting that something I am talented at I have not done. It is like an Olympian not doing their sport.”

The Sydney-based talent agent is partnered with 34-year-old meditation coach Dino Hira in the social experiment where couples who don’t know each other meet for the first time at the altar for a fake wedding.

Lucarelli, 38, has spoken extensively about her ‘dry spell’ on the show after being single for years.

“It is just the home run I haven’t done,” she said. “There has been some other bases that have been covered. I honestly don’t know how it has happened.”

Lucarelli questioned producers pairing her with Hira, with whom she has very little in common.

“We literally had nothing,” she said. “We weren’t physically attracted to each other. My number one is a sense of humour. Dino is a lot of things but he ain’t a funny guy. He’s spiritual and I am not, that was his number one.”

Both so far have chosen to stay in the experiment.

“We are working out,” she explained. “It has been a lot harder because we had no common ground. We couldn’t even communicate. He speaks spiritual, that’s his language. The reason I came into this is because I haven’t been able to find anyone myself and so I love the fact that they were matching me with someone I wouldn’t normally be with. The people I normally would go for, that hasn’t worked so why not give this everything I can.”

As an aside, Lucarelli has become known for her unusual laugh and facial expressions. She has been compared to comedian Julia Morris.

“I can’t tell you how many people have told me I look like Julia Morris,” she said. “I get told that so much, and the mannerisms. Obviously since being on Married At First Sight it has blown up. I am going to have to meet Julia, my sister.”
