Just a month after leaving her long-time spot as host of The Project, Carrie Bickmore has announced she has split with her partner of 10 years, Chris Walker.
The pair confirmed the news in a statement shared to their Instagram stories.
“Hi there. It’s with immense sadness that (Chris) and I have decided to separate,” the post began.
“While this is a tough time, our focus is to concentrate on parenting, loving and supporting our three amazing children, Ollie, Evie and Addie with everything we’ve got. They are doing great.
“We won’t be making any further comment at this stage.”
Walker and 42-year-old Bickmore met on the set of The Project in 2012, about two years after the Adelaide-born TV star suffered the tragic loss of her first husband, Greg Lange, to brain cancer.
In the years following the pair flourished as a couple, Walker became a stepfather to Bickmore and Lange’s son, Ollie, and in 2015 they welcomed in a child of their own, Evie.
The couple took a break from their respective TV roles to live in the UK for a school term in 2022.
Bickmore explained on an Instagram post that move was made to prioritise on time with their children.
“We feel like this is our last chance to do something like this together before Ollie hits the pointing end of his schooling and no longer wants to hang out with us,” she shared on her post.
The shocking separation comes after Walker stripped naked in front of colleagues in 2022, wrongly believing he had logged off a Skype call.
Workers were exposed to the confronting images during an online rehearsal meeting for The Weekly television comedy program on May 17.
The split after Bickmore abruptly left The Project after 13 years co-hosting, her exit famously followed by Lisa Wilkinson and Peter Helliar.
Bickmore was born in Adelaide in 1980 and moved to Perth at age two.
She went on to study journalism at Curtin University of Technology and started her career as a newsreader on 92.9FM in Perth.
She won her big television break on variety show Rove Live in 2006, ultimately winning the 2010 Logie Award for Best New Female Talent for her work on Rove and The Project.
She went on to claim the 2015 Gold Logie award, donning a beanie during her acceptance speech in order to raise awareness for brain cancer.
During her time on The Project she endured some frosty interviews with Peter van Onselen, and Sex Pistol rocker Johnny ‘Rotten’ Lydon.
She took a tumble during a live television cross in 2013, and had an embarrassing slip of the tongue when discussing a Qantas story in 2012.
