Chris Walker caught naked in front of colleagues on Skype call gone wrong

Senior ABC producer Chris Walker was nude in front of colleagues for up to two minutes — but he’s denied a graphic claim.

The ABC has offered counselling to staff after a senior producer stripped naked in front of colleagues, wrongly believing he had logged off on a Skype call.

Executive producer Chris Walker, who is the partner of Gold Logie winner Carrie Bickmore, has denied colleagues’ claims he was masturbating.

Workers were exposed to the confronting images during an online rehearsal meeting for The Weekly television comedy program on May 17.

The Herald Sun has been told the incident was witnessed by up to nine people and lasted between 40 seconds and two minutes.

Mr Walker, who has been enjoying a European sabbatical with his long term partner, has been dialling in remotely to carry out his producer commitments for The Weekly.

The Herald Sun understands it was during one of these links — between the end of rehearsals and the taping of the show — that the incident happened.

The ABC and Mr Walker’s television production company, Thinkative Television, issued statements to the Herald Sun saying the incident was unintentional and he was undressing to get into the shower, but wasn’t performing a lewd act.

Mr Walker is one of the nation’s leading television comedy producers.

He is the co-creator and executive producer of The Weekly, hosted by Charlie Pickering, and Hard Quiz, hosted by Tom Gleeson.

An ABC spokesperson said it was “aware of an unintentional incident” which occurred involving the production team for The Weekly.

“The ABC is in regular communication with the relevant team members and are in the process of developing strategies to ensure an incident of this nature does not occur again,” it said in a statement.

“The ABC has a counselling service available to all ABC employees which has been offered in this instance.”

Thinkative Television, which also produces Hard Quiz and Tomorrow Tonight, said it had nothing further to add to the ABC statement.

“It was clearly unintentional and I know the ABC has checked in with their crew about it,” a Thinkative spokesman said.

“There are discussions ongoing about processes to make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.”

The Weekly is hosted by Charlie Pickering, who is also part of Thinkative and a former co-host of The Project with Ms Bickmore.

A television insider said that the ABC was involved in a cover-up and not enough was being done to acknowledge the incident and support staff.

“The ABC is acting like a commercial network trying to minimise this incident,” the person, who asked to remain anonymous, said.

“Staff are shocked that there have been no consequences for his (Mr Walker) actions.”
