Widowed Carrie Bickmore of The Project vows to stay strong for son Ollie this Christmas

CARRIE Bickmore has vowed to stay strong for the sake of her son as she prepares for their first Christmas without husband Greg Lange.

Still reeling from the pain of losing Lange to cancer two days after Christmas last year, these holidays were always going to prove a heartbreaking reminder for The Project co-host -- but Bickmore said that she was determined to make them a positive experience for their four-year-old son Ollie.

"It's going to be a hard time. The most important thing is I just want joy for Ollie on Christmas Day and over that period," the 30-year-old told The Sunday Telegraph.

"I'm going to try to make the day about Ollie, and making it fun and enjoyable to him, but I'm looking forward to seeing the other side of that day and moving forward to next year."

Steeling herself for the first anniversary of Lange's death on December 27, Bickmore said she was looking forward to taking a break in January and surrounding herself and Ollie with close family and friends.

"I'm looking forward to getting away, reading a book, spending time with family and friends," Bickmore said.

She said a special series of "Power of Good" segments, focusing on giving back during the festive season, on The Project this week had also helped her focus on the true meaning of Christmas.

"It's nice to focus on feel-good things and giving and it's great to have a whole week of Christmas-related ones," Bickmore said.
