How much Fashion Week models are really paid
THEY are only on the catwalk for a few minutes, but for the first time the eye-watering amount models earn to walk the Fashion Week runway has been revealed. Here’s how much our Sydney beauties are earning for a couple of laps on stage.

Fashion shows only run for a few minutes, so $350 for a couple of laps of the runway is not a figure to sniff at.
That’s about the standard fee most models are paid for a runway parade, according to a well-placed source.

“Models who are higher profile can expect a higher fee, sometimes in the range of $1000 to $1500,” he said.
“At the overseas shows, at New York Fashion Week, for example, even an emerging model can earn that much, but for the bigger names you’re looking at $10,000-$20,000 a show.”
Celebrity models, on the other hand such as Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner, are in a different league and can earn upwards of six-figures.
Australian runway shows might not seem that lucrative in comparison to their overseas counterparts, but for up-and-coming models, there are more reasons to walk the runway than simply a paycheck.
“It’s about profile building,” said another industry insider. “It acts as a launch pad to promote new faces, and a lot of campaigns and commercial work can come from them.”
