Home and Away star Sam Frost backflips on Covid-19 vaccine

Home and Away star Sam Frost will temporarily leave the Channel 7 soap until she is fully vaccinated in February.

Sam Frost breaks down revealing she is unvaccinated

Home and Away star Sam Frost will now receive the Covid-19 vaccine after previously refusing to get the jab.

The actor, who plays Jasmine Delaney on the Aussie soapie, confirmed she will temporarily depart the Channel 7 show until she is fully vaccinated in February, days after the Seven Network announced its vaccine mandate for all production staff.

“I’m not leaving Home & Away. I’ve got a medical procedure booked in for January. So I won’t be fully vaxxed until mid-late February,” Frost wrote on Instagram on Tuesday.

“I will be written out temporarily, Jazzy is going on an off-screen adventure for a few weeks … but I’ll be back [heart emoji].

“My bosses are amazing, we’ve been in open communication for months. Very grateful we are able to make a plan that works for everyone.”

The backflip comes after weeks of controversy after the former Bachelorette star initially said she would not get vaccinated.

Last week, the Seven Network announced that all production staff must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 by January 10 after Frost went viral for refusing to get the jab.

“To provide the safest possible work environment for cast, crew and presenters, Seven Productions have made the decision to only engage those who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, taking effect in January next year,” a statement read.

“Seven strongly encourages vaccination to protect our people, their colleagues and their families.”

Last month, Frost, who has openly battled depression, revealed she was struggling with her mental health due to the “harsh judgment” and “segregation” that unvaccinated people are subjected to.

“I was really hesitant about even doing a video or speaking out about this sort of thing but I feel like it is getting to a point now in the world where there is a lot of segregation, there is a lot of harsh judgment and opinions being thrown around and it’s taking a toll on my mental health for sure,” she said.

“I know people around me are struggling, particularly if they are on the side that they don’t want to get vaccinated for whatever reason. There are lots of different reasons why people are not getting vaccinated.

“I am not vaccinated and there is a reason why I am not. There are a few reasons why I am not. I have spoken to my doctors and my psychiatrist about it. That’s my decision.”

Frost, 32, did not specify the reason behind her decision not to get vaccinated.

“It is a really hard time to be in society now and you feel like you are less of a human and you feel like people judge you and you are too scared to talk about your opinion or talk about your feelings,” she said.

“There are good reasons why I am not but I don’t want you to judge me.

“It is going to be a really hard time when the vaccinated are allowed out to do things … and because I have made a choice. I think it is really important during that time for people like myself to look after their mental health.”
