Did colourful Sydney stylist Jamie Azzopardi work with Taylor Swift during her recent Australian shows?
It is a mystery that had Sydney’s celebrity set aflutter this week.
Azzopardi sparked chatter as they attended events last Thursday night, loudly declaring they had to “rush off” to a “fashion emergency” as they were working with Taylor Swift.
Some 20 minutes later, Azzopardi was spotted at another event across town.
Obviously with the Harbour City at peak Swiftie fever pitch, their comments raised eyebrows, many jealous at the prospect of Azzopardi rubbing shoulders with the superstar.
On hearing the commentary, Confidential reached out to Swift’s team, who did not comment. A source close to the Bad Blood singer emphatically denied Azzopardi was involved in the tour in any way.
“Not true at all. I promise they did not work with Taylor in any way,” the source said. “There is no one new on the team.”
Azzopardi on Friday, for Swift’s first of four concerts at Accor Stadium, shared an Instagram story of the venue with the caption: “working”.
When contacted by Confidential, Azzopardi issued a swift no comment.
“I literally can’t comment at all,” they said.
Further calls by Confidential suggested Azzopardi may have got the call to do some sewing work for Sabrina Carpenter or a member of her team.
Carpenter, a former Disney star, was the big name support act for Swift.
Azzopardi is a well-known Sydney fashion figure and red carpet attendee. They have worked with many reality stars including the cast of Love Island and Married At First Sight.
They also have a large social media following of 175,000 and work with various brands ranging from Onitsuka to Google, Dr Marten, Novo, Tinder and Casetify.
Azzopardi has famously been at the centre of an ongoing several-year feud with fellow influencer Suzan Mutesi, who they claim has bought her 1.2 million Instagram followers.
The pair have long been engaged in a war of words, most recently at last year’s Logie Awards when Azzopardi claimed to have witnessed Mutesi crash the Logie Awards red carpet.
“She was really rude. The security guard asked if she had her pass. She didn’t. She said don’t you know who I am?” Azzopardi said. “Suzan said ‘my publicist is over there’, and the guard said ‘you’ll need to go and get it, or get your publicist to come here and let me know.’ He was just baffled and let her through.”
Mutesi eventually admitted that she had not been invited.
