Delta Goodrem has entered a new era and is taking her career into her own hands.
With confidence gained from growing up in the music industry, she brings a new dawn for running her business her way.
Last year saw the enduring songstress leave Sony music after 22 years and create her own music label – ATLED Records (Delta spelled backwards).
And now The Sunday Telegraph can reveal the 39-year-old has parted ways with her manager of 11 years, Tina Kennedy.
The pair issued a joint statement Saturday, saying: “It is with shared pride, admiration and dedication that we have worked alongside each other, achieving so many professional goals, milestones and success. After an incredible 11 years we close this management chapter and move forward with love respect and friendship”.
“I’m feeling really inspired and excited creatively,” Goodrem told The Sunday Telegraph.
“There s a freedom to the world of music in this day and age that I really enjoy- It’s an exciting time to be able to collaborate, and think outside the box, I’m really enjoying all of the variety of this season of my life.”
“I do feel strong in my sense of self and what I believe in and what I stand for and who I am. I think I have stayed true to that from the beginning, but now I am enjoying being able to do what I love to do and build my own community.”
Goodrem was just a teenager when she signed to Sony Music. Her first album, Innocent Eyes, was one of the highest-selling debut albums in Australian history.
And she had been signed with Kennedy for more than a decade.
Both working relationships ended entirely amicably and both mark two of the most successful partnerships in the history of Australia’s recorded music industry.
“I am so grateful to the inspiring woman and men I have worked with or been mentored by throughout the course of time, they have all made me the artist I am today. It has brought me to this place in my career to have had the experience to be able to do what I am enjoying now”
“We have an amazing team coming together and we are ready to keep firing on all cylinders.”
With the change to her team comes news Delta has moved into a large new office space, complete with her own state of the art recording studio.
“When Covid happened, I understood pretty quickly that our industry had changed dramatically,” she said.
“And we learnt that from doing our bunker down sessions.
“A new world was happening. And it was at that moment, after having always been a scrapbook girl, I stepped into technology.
“And that really was the beginning of when I decided, we are not going to wait for anyone anymore, we’re just going to keep moving forward.
“We needed more space. We have created our own world. That came to become ATLED records and ATLED productions.”
It was here she recorded and produced “Hearts on the Run,” which reached number eight on the UK charts this week.
Her songs have been featured as the Record of the Week twice on the biggest radio station. With upcoming UK shows a roll on from her sold-out European tour at the end of last year, it’s evident that Delta’s music has made a huge comeback in the UK.
And by her side for all of it is her fiance and partner of six years, Matt Copley who is also her guitarist and collaborator.
“I have a great love in my life who allows me to be the best version of myself.”
“We are so thankful we get to travel the world and play music together, -” she said.
“Working with Matt is fantastic.
“We became such a great team during that time in Covid when we had to produce everything ourselves. We figured it out together.
“We are really happy.”
Goodrem has been a force in music for more than two decades, beloved by her diehard fanbase for her catchy lyrics and heartfelt song writing.
Goodrem returned to Australia this week from her recent overseas successes, which included kicking off the year by being honoured with an award for excellence in the arts from the Australian American Association at the G’Day USA gala.
She then headed to the UK for her latest musical release, performing with the BBC Orchestra for Radio 2, reaching millions of listeners live.
Last Year marked the 20th anniversary of Delta’s blockbuster breakthrough debut LP Innocent Eyes.
With a sold out National tour to celebrate alongside an immersive experience for fans to be able to experience stepping back in time to the albums memorabilia that had been brought out of the vault.
After dropping March 2003, Innocent Eyes logged an unprecedented 29 weeks at No. 1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, making it the highest-selling debut album in Australian history.
It’s 23-times platinum certified, a seven-times ARIA Award winner, including wins for highest selling album at the ARIAS for two successive years.
The former Neighbours star also became the first artist to have five No. 1 singles from a debut album on the nation chart.
On Aug. 4, she unveiled “Back To Your Heart,” the first release on her new venture ATLED Records.
With Hearts on the run her first song for 2024, this era for Delta is looking to be her best yet.
