Delta Goodrem has entered her Taylor Swift era.
After more than 20 years contracted to the Sony Music label, Goodrem has set out on her own and launched her own record company, meaning she will control all her future music releases.
She has established ATLED Records with her boyfriend and guitarist/producer Matthew Copley.
Global superstar Swift has created the modern blueprint for music artists in the streaming era.
After forging a new path where she retains ownership and control of her future music releases, Swift started rerecording her early albums and is in the process of rolling them out to enormous success and acclaim.
Fans have been speculating in recent days as to whether that could be a consideration for Goodrem, down the track, to mine her lucrative and extensive back catalogue.
Fellow Australian artist Tina Arena also recently stepped away from the traditional record label fold.
Goodrem, 38, announced her new era via social media, describing it as a time to construct her own universe.
“I have always been inspired by the creation of music, but also the ever changing landscape of the industry,” she wrote.
“In these moments, it’s particularly thrilling to construct your own universe with like-minded individuals who have unwavering faith in you, just as you do in them. These are the hearts that will join you on the journey.
“We currently have more projects in the works than ever before, surpassing our wildest dreams, which has challenged me to think outside the box and evaluate how I want to continue to share music with you all.
“I would consider myself to be someone who has always run their own race and in these moments it is extremely exciting to be able to set up your own music world.
“Having ownership of my music in an industry that is constantly evolving is an incredible feeling and fuels my artistry and business ventures.
“I feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude towards the incredible community that has supported me for over two decades.
“But times have changed and so have I.
“It’s a new era, new world, with endless possibilities, so I created a new home for my music. Welcome to ATLED Records.”
Sony Music wished Goodrem well in a comment under Goodrem’s announcement post.
“Delta, wishing you all the best for this exciting new era of music. Love and Light,” it read.
The ATLED Records business was registered on July 6, 2023.
Its first release is the single Back to Your Heart.
Goodrem has evolved in recent years into a touring artist and celebrating 20 years since the release of her blockbuster album Innocent Eyes.
While innocent eyes was her calling card for years, it would appear that Goodrem very much has her eyes now focused on becoming an international artist. She toured recently in the US and has a European tour launching next month, followed by an Australian tour Noin late September/October.
The songwriter is definitely penning a new chapter.
