DANNII Minogue has spoken of her sadness at sister Kylie not being able to have kids after her battle with breast cancer.
“Growing up it was Kylie who always wanted kids and I never did,” Minogue told The Sunday Telegraph magazine in the UK ahead of the launch of her new reality TV show there, Let It Shine.
“When my brother Brendan had his little boy (Charles, now 10) I hadn’t a clue how to hold him. “I remember being really impressed by Kylie because she just instinctively knew what to do.
She continued: “When he was a bit older, she’d be the one rolling on the floor with him, making him laugh his head off and I’d be thinking: ‘What do I do?’”
Minogue, 45, is mum to five-year-old Ethan, whom she had with ex partner Kris Smith, and describes her son as “the real sunshine in my life”.
“When I got pregnant I was completely shocked. But having a baby is everything. Kylie has been incredible with Ethan. She just loves him — I love to see them together.”
Kylie Minogue, 48, is engaged to British actor Joshua Sasse and has long spoken of her desire to have children. She recently revealed she was looking at her options to become a mum.
“It’s a great sadness for her, it’s a great sadness for me and it’s also made me really understand how blessed I was to be a mother,” Dannii Minogue said of her sister. “Kylie wrote a song called Flower about how she feels about motherhood. It’s so beautiful it makes me cry. But you just don’t know what is going to happen in life.”
