AFTER playing Thor a whopping five times, Aussie actor Chris Hemsworth says he feels his next career move needs to be so bold he risks “looking like a fool”.
The 34-year-old’s latest turn as the Norse God is in Thor: Ragnarok — due out in cinemas later this month — but he’s ready to shake things up from the character he’s played for a decade.
“The idea that it should be wildly intimidating, I think, is when something unique can happen,” Hemsworth told GQ Australia in their November issue. “I’ve got to risk looking like a fool.”
Hemsworth said his co-star Mark Ruffalo told him not to play it safe or “stick to your one thing”.
“Mark was like, ‘It’s got to feel scary, man. It’s got to scare the shit out of you. I want to see you do something where you’re not in control’.”
Hemsworth, who shares three children with wife Elsa Patakysaid having kids changed their relationship.
“She’d like me to step back and be at home with the kids more, and of course, I want that too. But I feel like I’m at this crucial point in my career — I’ve just got to set up for longevity or I’ll slip off.”
GQ’s November issue is on sale Monday, October 9.
