AUSSIE film star Cate Blanchett’s adopted daughter Edith is quickly becoming her most adorable accessory.
Clinging to her mother’s waist as she was carried through the streets of Paris yesterday, the three-year-old almost upstaged her Oscar-winning mother.
Blanchett and her playwright husband of 20 years Andrew Upton adopted Edith Vivian Patricia in February 2015 to add to their brood of three biological sons, Ignatius, eight, Roman, 12 and Dashiel, 15.
The clan sold their Hunters Hill mansion in January but have been calling an English countryside manor home since last year.
The 48-year-old actor said in November 2015 that she had wanted to adopt since her first son was born in 2002.
“I felt we had space, enough emotional room in our hearts and we’re privileged enough to have the capacity to have another child, so it wasn’t about biology,” she said at the Women in the World India Summit.
“There wasn’t a desire to have a girl necessarily — gender of the children has never been particularly important to me, it’s more about their spirits, but it’s been a remarkable thing watching them welcome her and become a little troupe.”
Blanchett was in Paris to attend Givenchy’s Spring-Summer 2018 show at Paris Fashion Week, where she sat front row alongside Rooney Mara, Julianne Moore and Lily Collins.
