CATE Blanchett has been slammed by irate Americans after criticising new US President Donald Trump’s leadership as “ridiculous”.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Blue Jasmine star also called the Trump presidency “absurd”.
And in the Bad Advice segment, the Academy Award winner suggested Fallon give all his money to Mr Trump.
“How many times has he been bankrupt?” she asked, before saying it would be better to burn your money than giving it to the Republican.
Twitter users were quick to lay into the Aussie luvvie.
“Aussie citizen Cate Blanchett doesn’t like Donald Trump ... How about you worry about your home country & we’ll handle ours,” wrote one dissatisfied punter.
Blanchett, who recently sold her harbourfront mansion for $20 million, was also accused of being out of touch with regular people.
“I watch Jimmy Fallon to laugh — not for additional exposure to the constant political bitterness & disdain held by petulant, spoiled Hollywood actors such as yourself,” another disgruntled viewer said.
