Fresh off the opening of The Boathouse North Wollongong, The Daily Telegraph can announce the growing hospitality group is reopening another.
After undergoing a six month renovation, their “beach shack” at Palm Beach will open on Friday — November 8 — as all-day cafe The Boathouse Palm Beach.
It’s a homecoming of sorts for the group: Palm Beach was the location of the launch of the brand in 2008.
While they have the up-market Barrenjoey House, the group didn’t have a more laid back offering in the area.
And after missing out on the site of The Joey, they decided to pour their love into the 100-year-old.
Situated in what the team calls “The Hamptons of Sydney”, the cafe now has a new balcony, bar and kitchen and is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week.
The Group’s Head of Culinary Mark La Brooy’s menu includes a mango bircher with macadamia crunch, a crab scramble, stuffed zucchini flowers, a Wagyu beef burger and a decadent lobster roll, which comes with a jug of lemon butter sauce to pour over.
“It’s a bit naughty” says La Brooy.
Coffee, juices and wine are on the menu, as is a range of The Boathouse homewares.
In a statement, Antony Jones, CEO of The Boathouse Group, said: “We wanted to do something special for the local community, the venue certainly needed some love, but we’re really proud of what we have created and can’t wait to share it.”
It comes as The Boathouse Group, headed up by ex-Merivale boss Jones, has submitted a DA for a $33m restaurant complex site in Terrey Hills. From the sea to rural, The Farmhouse Terrey Hills aims to have three eateries on a semi rural property on the northern beaches.
