It will be a low-key affair when Russell Crowe marks a milestone birthday at the weekend.

The Oscar-winning actor turns 60 on Sunday and is in Budapest filming a movie with fellow-Academy Award winner Rami Malek.

“No plans,” Crowe told Confidential when asked what he will be doing on Sunday.

“I’m still shooting in Budapest so most likely I will be revising dialogue and getting ready for the scenes to come.”

He may be staring down 60, but Crowe recently shaved years off his appearance, losing his beard for the first time in about five years in preparation for his latest role, and posting a picture of the result on Instagram.

“The actor prepares #20,” he captioned the pic, adding that it was his “First shave since 2019.”

Crowe was born in Wellington, New Zealand, in 1964 to parents Jocelyn and John Crowe.

The family moved to Australia when he was just four years of age.

He made his acting debut on the small screen in Spyforce, ahead of his breakout role in Romper Stomper.

He went on to become one of our most celebrated actors, winning his Oscar for his 2000 role Gladiator and gaining more acclaim — and a BAFTA — for A Beautiful Mind the following year.

Consistently, while a huge name in Hollywood, he supported the film and television industry in Australia and New Zealand, as well as supporting his beloved South Sydney Rabbitohs.

In Budapest, Crowe is filming Nuremberg. The film, directed and written by James Vanderbilt, and will see Crowe play Nazi war criminal Hermann Göring.
