Alyssa Milano confirms Who’s The Boss revival in the works

On the eve of her first ever trip to Australia, Hollywood star Alyssa Milano has made a major announcement about a Who’s The Boss revival.

Speaking up on issues important to her, and others, is the only way for Hollywood actor Alyssa Milano.

While other stars often fear being vocal, Milano has long been an advocate for change in conjunction with work on shows from Who’s The Boss to Charmed.

“I don’t understand the celebrities that are afraid to make waves because they’re afraid of alienating their audience,” Milano told Confidential.

“If I was making that much money for a film, I would still be screaming from the rooftops because it’s important that the people that we look up to, the people that we escape with, can lead us down a more equitable and, you know, a life of equality. Otherwise, there’s no point.”

Milano, 50, spoke to Confidential via Zoom from LA ahead of flying to Australia for her first trip here. She will meet fans at the annual Supanova Comic Con & Gaming event at Sydney Olympic Park at the weekend before heading to Perth for the convention there the following weekend.

She is of course a veteran of the business with more than four decades experience.

In that time, she has championed issues around HIV/AIDS, vegetarianism, animal welfare, poverty, health care and the #metoo movement.

“My first experience with activism was when I was 15-years-old with Ryan White, who was a teenager who had HIV/AIDS and he asked me to go on TV to kiss him to prove that you couldn’t get HIV from casual contact,” she explained.

“That was sort of at the height of Who’s The Boss’ success and popularity. To me, being in the public eye, having a platform, having a voice, goes hand-in-hand with using that voice to further issues and causes that are important to me, is civil rights, children’s rights. I don’t know any other way.”

Milano played Samantha Micelli in Who’s The Boss from 1984 to 1992 alongside Tony Danza, Judith Light, Danny Pintauro and the late Katherine Helmond.

She confirmed a Who’s The Boss revival was in the works.

“I’m writing and producing and developing for TV and film right now,” she said. “That’s not to say that I won’t act ever again but I do feel like I am able to be more creative and tap into the things that are important to me through that.”

She continued: “You might be excited to know we are still in development for the Who’s the Boss sequel. We are very hopeful that that will go forward … that would be amazing. I’m super excited about it and I think that we can be a super entertaining and progressive and funny show so I’m excited about the potential.”
