Reality television series Made in Bondi not only will shine the spotlight on the lives of the instafamous cast (some who may or may be not Bondi based) but it will also shine a spotlight on Sydney’s food scene.
The reality show follows the lives of Sydney’s young, and genetically-blessed elite with many of the drama taking place in restaurants and bars around the city.
The Channel Seven program has been dubbed the country’s answer to British hit Made In Chelsea. It’s also being made in partnership with UK’s Channel 4 and will air in the UK the same time as in Australia.
The producers of the show said when it comes to picking the venues, they chose restaurants that are considered among “Sydney’s best.”
“They are restaurants that our Made in Bondi participants often enjoy going to when we are not filming with them. We are very fortunate in Sydney to have so many fabulous restaurants to choose from,” said Alex Ristevski, Head of Unscripted for Matchbox Pictures.
One such venue the cast shot at was Mamasaan, a cult Bondi favourite. Model and cast member Lawson Mahoney said he loves the vibes of the restaurant and bar.
“It’s such a bustling little place. Every time I’ve come here for drinks or dinner it’s always busy, and the atmosphere is chatty and bubbly. The décor is really sexy,” he said.
For Content creator Bella Saleron, she loves the bar. Despite it bringing up bad memories.
“Although, some of the conversations I’ve had here at Mamasaan on Made in Bondi are pretty depressing, the atmosphere made up for those horrible conversations.”
As to her other Bondi hotspots, she lists Hotel Ravesi. “I am a big interior girl, so I love the design and the style which really brings out the atmosphere and feel of a place. The food is really good too,” she said.
