‘We Show Up’: Inside the Hembrows’ powerful sisterhood

A week after Tammy Hembrow’s highly publicised split from Matt Zukowski, her sister Emilee - who is supporting AviClear for Acne Awareness Month - reflects on the strength of their bond and why a sisters’ self-care day is long overdue.

They say sisters share an unbreakable bond, and that’s certainly true for the Hembrows.

A week on from Tammy Hembrow’s highly publicised divorce from Matt Zukowski, her sister and fellow influencer Emilee says she never lets her family face hard times alone.

“We show up, even if it’s just a check-in voice note, a coffee drop-off, or looking after each

other’s kids,” she told Confidential.

“We’re all busy, but we never let each other go through hard things alone. That’s

the power of sisterhood, we get it, and we don’t need to explain.”

After what’s likely been an emotionally chaotic time, Hembrow, who is supporting AviClear for Acne Awareness Month said a sister’s self care day was much needed.

“We actually need to book something, we have been so busy and haven’t had the time,” she said.

“A little soak house or pamper day is overdue for us.”

A mum-of-five, Emilee rose to fame online alongside her sisters Tammy and Amy, who together have nearly 19 million Instagram followers and recently launched their own supplement brand, Selfish Supps.

While she’s used to the spotlight, Hembrow says being in the public eye while dealing with acne came with added pressure.

“It’s the pressure of always being ‘on.’,” she said.

“When you’re in the public eye, people notice everything and skin is one of those things that’s really hard to hide. The hardest moments were when I felt like I had to show up confidently, but behind the scenes I wasn’t feeling my best.

“Whether it was filming content, attending events, or even just being on stories, I felt like people were judging, even if they weren’t.”

Pregnancy brought plenty of changes for Hembrow - and one of the most noticeable was her skin.

She experienced hormonal acne flare-ups and admits that, particularly during events or filming, she would become more mindful of how her skin looked.

However, over time she’s learned not to let it take over.

“I’ve become a lot more confident and now I try to focus on showing up as I am, not as some filtered version of myself,” she said.

While no longer interested in pretending to have perfect skin, Hembrow has shifted her mindset from striving for “perfect” to embracing “real”.

“That’s where the real confidence comes in, when you’re not trying to hide, but just owning

where you’re at. That’s what I try to share online now.”

The Hembrow sisters have always bonded over a shared love of beauty. From a young age, Emilee says they were obsessed with at-home face masks and skincare rituals, and have always been each others biggest supporters.

“They keep things in perspective and remind me not to stress over every little breakout. It’s always nice having that circle who just gets it.”

Hembrow who has joined forces with AviClear, the first and only FDA- and TGA-cleared laser treatment for mild to severe acne — says the partnership aligns with her own values around skin confidence.

“What really drew me to AviClear was their purpose,” she said.

“They’re not just promoting another skin treatment, they’re shifting the conversation around acne. Their focus on confidence, education, and long-term skin health really aligned with the way I see beauty: it’s about feeling empowered in your own skin, not perfecting it.

“Supporting brands with a clear mission and real impact is something I’m really passionate about.”
