It might be called Made in Bondi but hardly any of the cast are from the beachside suburb and it wasn’t even filmed there.
According to Seven, upcoming reality TV series Made in Bondi “follows the real lives and loves of young Sydney socialites living in the affluent Eastern Suburbs and the most famous beach in the world — Bondi”.
Except the thing is, few of the cast are actually from Bondi, or Sydney for that matter, as “producers tried hard to get actual Bondi locals with a profile on board, however, they didn’t have much luck”.
Instead, they have gone with Bella Salerno, 23, who spent most of her childhood living in Europe; Molly Paradice, 23, from Scone in country NSW; Isabella Cicero, 31, a content creator who hails from Perth; Pippa Hanan, 22, from Paddington; Billy Daniels, 32, who moved from Perth to Paddington; and model Lachlan McLean, 27, from Sydney’s northern beaches.
Jewellery designer Emma Pillemer, 22, is believed to be the only cast mate who has legitimately been raised in Bondi.
According to those on set, the majority of the filming has taken place in Brighton Le Sands, 30 minutes from Bondi Beach.
“They are clearly not making this show for an Australian audience,” one insider said.
“It will be pitched to the international market who won’t know the difference.”
We can also reveal participants are paid as little as $240 for a day on set.
In comparison, the Real Housewives of Sydney cast have contracts worth $30,000 to $50,000.
But producers initially set their sights high, trying to recruit model Montana Cox, fashion designer Sophie Coote, pilates instructor Bernadette Fahey, and socialites Andy El-Bayeh and wife Harriet Williams.
