You have to see this exploding poo zombie on Fear The Walking Dead

Fear The Walking Dead unleashes an exploding poo zombie on the characters in a scene that makes the legendary Well Walker look like a tea party.

IF you are not watching Fear The Walking Dead, then you are missing out. This week it unleashed an exploding poo zombie on the characters. And how often do you get to write that in a sentence?

Yes, the shit is literally starting to fly in this series. And I do mean literally.

Get ready for some spoilers as we review Episode 11 of season three, La Serpiente.

Madison Clark is facing huge challenges to keep her kids alive in Fear The Walking Dead.

In the last episode, La Serpiente, Strand, Madison and Walker found themselves in a sewer, trying to escape a herd of zombies and get to a dam in order to find water for the ranch.

Now, as anyone who has watched FTWD or its big brother The Walking Dead knows, there’s always nasty things lurking in tunnels and sewers. And this did not disappoint.

Not only did they run into the fattest, ugliest zombie since the infamous Well Walker from season 2 of The Walking Dead, when Madison and Strand started to dismember it so they could get past, they discovered that it was blocking the tunnel and had caused a giant blockage of poo. Once the zombie was dismembered, out exploded the poo.

It was a metaphor for what is brewing in this increasingly brilliant series.

We have the ranch, filled with racist Doomsday Preppers just itching for a chance to kill the Native Americans, who in turn would like nothing better than to finish off these white fools, especially now they are running out of water.

Somehow Madison, Alicia and Nick have to keep a lid on them.

Then there is the dam, run by Lola who wants to do the right things and carefully hand out water to the surviving people, by Efrain who wants to open the dam and give all the water back and Daniel, who wants to protect these do-gooding fools from what he can see coming.

Daniel knows that do-gooders Lola and Efrain are inviting trouble.

In the middle is Strand, who is trusted by nobody but is very good at brokering deals and outwitting both the dead and the living.

This episode was all about doing the deal, about the mistrust Walker still has for Madison and the others and Daniel’s broken relationship with his daughter Ofelia, who has now hooked up with Walker.

And this is just a foretaste of things to come. Madison did a deal with Lola to hand over a tonne of the ranch’s weapons, so Daniel can keep the dam safe from the angry people who want water.

Of course it was not that simple and Strand had to come up with a cunning plan involving an exploding truck, while Daniel seems to have connections with angry mobs. It was very smooth and cunning.

Victor Strand was at his smooth best this week.

It does seem a little strange that so many Mexicans survived, to form little “colonias” in their suburbs, when the American cities dissolved into chaos and death. Especially as Mexican cities tend to be even more densely populated and have fewer guns (although not the ones run by the drug cartels, obviously). But hey, let’s go with it.

The ranch has survived without seeing too many zombies so far, so no doubt they feel safe to hand over a bunch of arms and ammo. But that can’t last. As we have seen from The Walking Dead, once the zombies have chomped their way through the cities, they herd up and move out into the countryside to eat anything else they can find.

Remember what happened to Hershel’s Farm?

And, we also know from The Walking Dead, that every attempt to form a safe camp dissolved into death and chaos.

We have that to look forward to.

Season three still has five episodes to go and it looks like it’s going to end ugly for both the ranch and the dam. Catch up on Foxtel’s FX now. You won’t be disappointed.
